Mother’s Day Recap

This past Mother’s Day was considered a low key Mother’s Day celebration we’ve ever had.  With hubby out of town and I was super busy with yard work since we’ll be leaving for Summer vacay very soon, I could hardly think or wish anything special.  I ended up inviting my good friends over for BBQ and we had a fabulous time together, watching our kids played together and just chit chatting.  I hate to admit, I do miss having special events at my sons’ school.  When My oldest was in preschool and also in kindergarten, the school threw a tea party with moms and they were so memorable.  My youngest’ muffin with moms was nothing compare to those tea party.  Now that my oldest is in elementary, having these type of occasions have become a rarity.

As I was reminiscing the old days and browsed some pictures, all the sudden I found this (warning: excuse the spelling!!):

A heart shaped Lego and a little sign that said, "The thing that (??) I love you

Then I looked up and saw a little note on my pin board.  That note was written by my oldest son last year when he was in 1st grade.  It was just a random note at no special occasion,

My Mom

My mom is nice

I love my mom

We have fun together

She likes to play outside

We like to play indoors sometimes

I am (worth?) love with my mom

because I love her back

We play together, sometimes we play with my brother

This little poem or note made me smile.  And the best thing about it is that it was written randomly out of the blue.

Then I realized:

  1. You may not get flowers on Mother’s Day, but you get random sweet little notes here and there
  2. The key to win over your child’s heart is by spending time and actually engaging with him, not just staring at your phone all the time.  Easier to say than done…I know.  But it’s just that simple

Happy Mother’s Day!!
