Last Thursday hubby and I took our son to go see Circus for the first time. I was pretty excited when I found out about Aladdin Shrine Circus only costs $3/person. That way if my son couldn’t sit still and we had to leave, it wasn’t such a waste.
Turns out the whole show was such a big disappointment. First of all, one of the trapeze artists was completely overweight. Seeing an overweight woman wearing leotard outfit and could barely swinging on the trapeze was pretty sad. Not only that, the rest of the performance was pretty horrible as they couldn’t do the tricks they promised. One of the guys were supposed to do triple somersault in the air before grabbing the other performer’s hand. He fell right onto the net. The clowns were not funny. The unicycle guy with his eight year old son was OK. At least they didn’t make any mistakes. There were a group of people who walked on a giant seesaw shaped that was moving in a circular motion. One of the tricks was to walk on it with their eyes covered. These men couldn’t do it. They started to lose their balance and finally took off the bandannas that were used to cover their eyes. It was embarrassing! At least I was embarrassed for them. The family acrobats were OK although they also messed one of their tricks, but at least they tried again and succeeded. There were only two animals on the show, which is a horse and two elephants. Honest to goodness the rest of the performances were completely boring.
In the end you got what you paid for. After the intermission, my son was pretty much had it. So it was a good trial experience for him. Other than that, I wouldn’t recommend Aladdin Shrine Circus to anyone. I would definitely wait until next year to go to a better Circus that’s really worth the experience.
