A friend of mine from work told me how to make a smiley face on a pancake. Basically if you pour two dots for the eyes and the smiley lip, let it sit for a few second and pour the rest of the pancake mix in the pan, you will have a smiley face on the pancake. So that’s what I did this past weekend. I woke up early trying to make this smiley face on a pancake and sprinkle it with powder sugar. First I tried it by using ladle, yeah it turned into a disaster. Then I used spoon, that was even worse. Finally I used my measuring cup that has a pouring lip, and it works like a charm. Eight pancakes later, this is what I got:
A smiley face pancake with one eye is swollen and lips that looks more like a sad clown lips. Not mentioning my two year old who barely noticed it and chewed down the pancake in a matter of seconds. *Sigh…..So much for the efforts. Lesson learned, I’ll stick with grapes and apples to make a face on any type of food.

Haha as long as our kids like to eat our homemade food and happy, it is all worth it. You can use cookie cutters and knife to shape the eyes, nose, and mouth.
