Last week 26 other co-workers and I bought Mega Million lottery tickets, each of us chipped in $5. The grand prize was $333 million. The funny thing is my husband also did the same thing, only he had 20 other people from work joining. We didn’t win, of course, otherwise I won’t be sitting here and writing this blog. Anyway, I thought it would be fun to dream what I would do if I had a million dollar. I don’t need hundreds of million dollars, all I need is a million.
- Family comes first. Each one of our family (my parents, in law, brothers, and sister in law) will get a portion of the money.
- Giving back. I will donate some money to charity. Being a mom, I have a soft spot of watching cute little faces struggling with cancers, so i probably will donate it to Children’s Hospital.
- Pay us first. Since we’re in recession, I’m thinking this is the best time to buy stocks. I might pay off our mortgage and car since there are no good short term investment, might as well pay off our bills. I might be interested in buying some land just for investment purpose.
- Home improvement. Rather than buying a mansion, I would like to stay in our current home and do some home improvement. Maybe some painting, landscaping, some new kitchen appliances, backsplash, bathroom repairs, the whole nine yard. Having a big house means more maintenance. I’d rather spending it on something else than on a house.
- Vacation to Hawaii or Europe. Maybe flying either my family or in-law from accross the globe and meet us in Europe so they can help out watching my child while my husband and I are having second honeymoon.
- Shopping, shopping and shopping. Splurge a little bit on shoes, bags and outfits and some toys for my child.
- The rest goes into our savings.
I probably will not quit my job because I do love to get up in the morning knowing what I need to do each day. I don’t know if I want to go back to school. School is just not for me, bachelor is all I can handle… : ) My husband said I’m one of those sad people who will keep on working until I die, but at least this time I work because I love to, not have to. Neither I or my husband are a car person, so even if we’re a millionaire, we’ll still be driving our Honda.
O well… dreaming is important as long as you go back to the land of reality soon… : )
