Things about myself that I would like to change

I have certain bad habit that I’m currently working on to change it.  As I get older, I realize that these habits could really hurt my goals in life.

  1. I want to be more focus on what I’m doing.  One of my weaknesses is that I got distracted so easily, i.e. while I’m in the middle of writing this blog, all the sudden I realize I haven’t checked craiglist today.  I would stop writing and start browsing craiglist.  Then when I finish browsing, I couldn’t remember what I was going to write.  This is such a bad habit and I would very much like to change it.
  2. I want to be able to go to bed by 11 pm.  I’m such a night person that it’s hard for me to go to bed before midnight.  Sometimes I didn’t go to sleep until 1 am.  Everyday I only sleep for about six hours and get really tired the next morning. 
  3. I would like to care more about my friends.  Being an only girl middle child, I grew up to be a total ignorant person.  I don’t care about whatever my friends or family doing.  As long as they don’t bother me, I won’t bother them.  My husband sometimes ask me if I have called or emailed my friend who just had a baby or visit them when they get sick and so forth.  When I told him I don’t even think about those things, he told me pretty soon I would be left alone without friends.  His words struck in my head because I certainly do not want to be alone.  What if my husband leave me?  I have nobody to talk to or befriends with.  This is really important in my situation as I don’t have any family here.  Sometimes I forget that my friends are my family, and this is definitely not the way you treat your family.
  4. I would very much like to speak Indonesian to my son at home.  Millions of Americans wished they could speak another language.  My husband and I are fortunate enough to be bilingual, teaching our son Indonesian language is probably the right thing to do.  Plus if we visit our family in Indonesia, my son won’t be able to understand our conversation.

I do realize that if I do all the things I mentioned above, I can be more successful in everything.  If I’m focus on whatever I’m doing, the job will be completely faster and I actually have time to do something else… or even sleep early.  It’s all about changing habit, and realizing is just not enough.
